"Talk about a long day - that is what I felt like today. I am way tired as I woke up at 5 and it is now almost 11:30. The weather was really bad and so we drove for a long time. This morning we got there and immediately started everything. It was an alright conference, and I enjoyed it. I had to conduct her but it was still fairly good. We tried hard to think up new ways to find new investigators, but we are not exactly sure how. We are going to try several new ideas. Well, it was weird to be at my last conference and it just doesn't seem real. I can't believe how fast time is going. It is insane. I saw the other 2 guys that came with us, and they are doing well. I had a good chat with President, and he calmed me a git. He said that it will be hard, but that I just need to focus more. Don't worry about dumb things and just work. President is an awesome man and is truly inspired. So tonight on the way home from Engels we were in a really bad storm, but luckily we were safe. It was a long trip, but we are home now, and tomorrow will be a long one too."

"It was a fairly good one today other than the fact that I am tired. We were on the train overnight and so didn't get all the sleep that was needed, but I will survive. So we got to the office this morning and then council got started and so that was cool. Everything went well, and the good thing was it all went as planned. We talked about how we can work better with members to get referrals and how to get the work going better. Well, Elder Christensen and I talked about how we can help Penza and decided that we need to work better with President in order to get things going. Well, I taught a bit about how to correct missionaries, and that went alright - i don't have a lot of experience. So, we then ate really well and after council I ate McDonalds so I ate too much. Tonight I got to see all the people that I served among in Samara so that was awesome. I love those people and love to see those whom I served earlier on my mission. It was truly amazing and I love them a ton. We walked to the vokzal and now we are just waiting and getting ready to leave. It is super boring here, but we have some good ideas on how to help, so hopefully we can implement them."

Tired

"Today was sure a long day. I can't believe how tired I am. We woke up bright and early this morning – 5 – and took off to Engels. So, we had a nice 4 ½ hour ride and it was fun. We got there basically at 10 and so conference immediately started when we got there, and all went well that way. I have to say that conference was good, but it was super long. There was a ton of trainings and it went a little long, but in the end it was all good. We had pizza for lunch and that was cool. We talked about planning and how we need to use time better. After conference I typed a talk in Russian that Elder Kotov helped me with. After that I saw a ton of people that I knew. Аня from Engels was there and somehow she remembered me. I also saw another girl that we were trying to teach. It was awesome. Not only that but then I saw Сестра Gugelskaya and that was awesome. She is a way awesome sister. Basically, it was awesome to see all these people. We finally left at 7 and we drove for about 4 ½ hours so got home about 12. I am going to die I am so tired. Tomorrow will be a quick one."

Work Harder

"We are back in Penza after a great conference in Saratov. We had a way awesome time there learning about all of the different qualities of Jesus Christ which we want to have in ourselves. Elder Steiner and I taught милосердие и усердие (charity and diligence). It was cool to be up in front of everyone and to teach them. The missionaries right now seem to be less worried about the work than earlier. They don't speak in Russian hardly ever although I try to always speak it - its a mission rule. The mission has changed a lot since I came, and the missionaries seem less focused. Maybe it is just because they are so young.
For lunch we had pizza from Papa John's which is always a booster. We enjoyed all of conference, and then we stayed after for interviews. President said to me that to fix problems we need to read Preach My Gospel more, and the white hand book. He said also that a church building here in Penza depends more on the faith then on the numbers. President is a very inspired man, and I am grateful to be serving under him. On the way home, we talked a little about getting our calling on a mission. I remember how happy I was, and touched by the spirit when I opened my call. I had one month to prepare to serve the Lord. What an amazing things to have opened that calling, and to now be here on my mission. The lord knows us and our needs."

Memories

"I am back in Dachney today. It is sure awesome I love this area, and didn't realize how much I miss the people here. This was a huge growing experience for me. I had a ton of memories come flowing back. We left for Saratov this morning on a gazelles and went and played in the park. We actually went and played with some Russians in soccer, and I was playing goalie but got owned by them (we did end up winning). After a couple of hours, we took off.
So, on the way home we got a taxi, and he took some back route home. We were flying down this road and there were only two little tire tracks and the rest was ice. We did have one really close one where we almost spun out. It was sweet. We got changed and ready to go and then we headed off to get Шарума's. That was way sweet, and I love those. We then checked out some movies and discs before hitting up a tie store. There, I bought 7 ties and it was fun. We headed out to заводской where we saw the end of The Chronicles of Narnia, and then we did some skits. We did a gum eating where I started chewing a piece and then everyone touched, stepped, and sat one it before I ate it again. It was pretty sweet, and funny. On the way home, there were some little Russians who thought they were funny so made fun of us in Russia. We understood it all, and acted like nothing. We then answered a bunch of their questions in Russian, and they felt really stupid. Like I said - there are awesome memories here in this area!"

Made It

"I am going crazy. We were in Samara all day today, and in fact we were in the office the whole time. We had a good time this evening doing absolutely nothing. We got in this morning, and that was alright, but I was tired. We chilled in the office until Council started. We had a good time there, and not a whole ton there. We learned about enduring to the end, and how we can help people do that. We mainly just used preach My Gospel and talked about how we can prepare people better for baptism. I thought a lot about the people that we are working with, and we can help them even more than we have.
We had a way awesome lunch, and I ate a ton. It was sweet, and I sure miss eating in the office. Well, after ZLC we did some crap in the office before we were just sitting there doing nothing. Basically we just chatted with a bunch of the other ZLs and enjoyed it. We took some crazy pictures. It was sweet. I then saw Sister Silva and talked with her for like 15 minutes. She is way cool, and I sure miss serving with her in my district. We had an interesting experience making it to the train. I ordered the taxi an hour before we needed it to be to the office, and then it showed up 15 minutes late. We had to run to the train with tons of boxes in our hands, and we barely made. We were both praying like crazy and we are so happy to be here on this train. What a day, and back to Penza to work we go."

Good advice and food

"Today was a pretty sweet day. We had a nice long time in the gazelle. We were in Engels for a Zone Conference and that was cool. It has been a long time since I was there, and I had a lot of memories come back. It was a good 2 months there, and I love to serve there. Victor - a guy that we contacted there - got baptized last Saturday, and that was way cool.
Conference today was a good one, and we talked a lot about крещение (baptism). That was way good and we learned a lot about how we can work a lot more effectively to prepare people for this important step in life. We have several investigators, but we don't know who is ready for baptism. We need to work with them and to help them a ton. I am excited to be able to have so much work.
We had Papa John's for lunch and that was way good. On the way home from Engels we stopped into Saratov and got ourselves some Шарума. It was way good, and it has been a long time since I have had such tasty food. On the way home, we talked forever and told a lot of jokes. It was a lot of fun, and we were all super tired. It was a nice long ride home, but we made it.
President gave me some good advice. He said that I should set a goal that I am striving for while I am here. I need to make a difference during my service here. It is something that I will be attempting to do, and I will have to think of what goal I want to set."

Long Gazelle Ride

"Today went pretty well. I am dead tired, and I want to sleep, but as for now, I am working on getting things ready for tomorrow so that we can have some meetings. This morning we took off to Saratov at about 5 and we were all super tired. Well, we had a lot of time once we got to Saratov and so we stopped by to the store. Well, lets just say that I ate way too much. I forgot how much I dislike Saratov - I mean the roads are super crappy and it is really dirty. Well, it has been a long time since I have been there and so it was cool to see all these things I haven't seen in a while. Well, President Pieper talked again about how we were foreordained before we came and how we knew that we would be here in this mission, and that there is a reason that we were called to this mission. I loved it, and it was way sweet. President Pieper is a great guy. I really love to hear from him. Well, we had a way good time and played a ton. Well, we then started to come, and it was way crappy. I tried to sleep, but it didn't do that good because the gazelle is so small. We somehow survived and now we are home and getting ready for an exciting day tomorrow. I hope that I sleep well, and that all will go well tomorrow."

Great Missionary

"It was sure an interesting day. We have my replacement here – Elder Nava. He is a great guy. What a great missionary he is. He will do awesome here. We went early this morning to дом учения where we had conference. It was awesome, and we had a really good time listening to President Peiper again and he is such an awesome guy. He has such a wonderful spirit, and he always is ready to help. We sang in the choir, and that went way awesome. We sang great, and the spirit was super strong. I loved to sing and that was good.
After the conference, we sat around for a bit and that went really well. I talked with people, and then we finally left after waiting for a long time. We had a good time at the office, sitting, eating, and chatting. All in all it went good, and then we got out of there. I was with Elder Nava and we attempted to contact a bit, but that didn’t go too well. We went to see Вячеслав and he is doing well, and having a real good time with him. I realized what a good missionary Elder Nava is and I am shocked at his ability to teach. I wish that I could be as good of a missionary as he is. He is such a great guy. I hope that I can become a lot better missionary. Right now is hard, but I think it will be better. I hope at least…"

Conference - President Peiper

"Today was way awesome. We had a ton of success, and President Peiper made it in for his conference with us today. We left early through the snow this morning and went to the church. Well, we thought that conference was suppose to start at 10 but there had been a last minute change and we didn't start until 11. Well, we had a way awesome conference, and we found out how well President Peiper really does speak. He talked to us a ton about our role in the plan of salvation and how we learned the things we are learning now before this life. We know the people that we are meeting now before this life, and we prepared for this! It was crazy to thing about and it was a way awesome conference. We got flu shots after the conference and that was good. We then chilled there for a bit and had a good time chatting with all the missionaries. We then had english lesson and that was pretty cool. I was chatting with Sister Чалимова and Фамичева and they wanted me to do english. Well, I taught the beginning group, and at was with Elder Nance and Lamber and we stopped by to Надежда, Ваня, и Вася. That went really good, and they said that they would read and pray. Well, they told us that Elder Umina was lost and so we had to go to the APs and then we came home when we found out that he had been found. Its bed time now thought."

Fun Day

"Today just flew by. We had a ton of fun and we worked super hard. We made the best of it and so that is good. This morning, we went to the office after getting in a good morning of study. We got things together that we needed and then we started district meeting. That went way awesome, and we chatted forever. I love to meet with everyone and to relax with them and have a good time. We taught each other the law of chastity, and that didn't go so well for me. I have never taught that on my mission and it is super weird. After a long meeting, we went back to work on getting ready for ME and I worked for a while one that. We grabbed a quick bite of пельмены and we rushed into our meeting with President. Well, that went well, and I didn't get too many things that I need to do now. The mission is alright, and we are working hard for the most part.
After the meeting, I worked on getting talks together from General Conference. I am going to have them all tomorrow. Well, after I did that, we headed out for a meeting with a member that we had. It was a meeting with Галина Конаваленко, and it went well. She has a daughter who lives in Murray, and she asked me to take some things for her. She also gave us a referral, so that is awesome too. I love such awesome meetings. We came home, and now I am eating chips and a рулеть and am going to write in the area book! What an exciting time to be serving the Lord."

President

"Once again, the spirit was strong and we enjoyed conference very much. It was so awesome today. President Hinckley gave an awesome talk about forgiveness. He talked about how we need to forgive no matter what. Also, Elder Uchtdorf talked about President Davidik and about how after just one month in the church, he became a branch president. What a great man he is. I loved to feel the spirit, and there were so many great songs. They did such an awesome job. I love the prophets, and the words that they speak. It is such a blessing. It was too bad that so few people were there because conference is such a wonderful time to receive a spiritual boost.
Надежда and her kids came, but after only one hour left because it was super hard for her kids to sit through it. They were trying to sit and sleep all at the same time. It was a good thing that they left. Well, after the meeting, I got everything put up and then we went with the district to the Ehlert's and had a nice large meal - hot dogs, beans, salad, jello and all those good things. Well, we then talked about conference and what we heard, and it reminded me of home. When we got together and discussed the talks and all. We then took off and met with a family - Исабаевы - and talked a little about conference. We finished the night at Степан's house and that was fun as always, and we talked about life in general. He has way too many excuses. I love conference time, and I have soo much to work on. That is the best part - I have something to do in order to prepare for next conference, and then I'll learn more, and work more. I am always striving for something more."

Conference

" I am filled with the spirit. What an awesome day it was. I love to hear the words of the prophets and to feel the spirit as they speak. General Conference means so much more when you don't have it when then rest of the world does.
This morning, we went and we did our writing home. That went well, and we got that done - like it was a pin to have to do it. My family doing well, and my new nephew is getting healthy. While we were in the office, the elders in Ulyanovsk called and I had to help them to get their TV set up correctly. Well, we then took off, and went to the church where things went really well. We got the TVs set up and watched the Saturday sessions all together. There was very few people there, so that was sure sad. I wish that all the people would have a testimony of the words of the prophet and apostles. I truly love them. We did have a short break in between the sessions where we had a bite to eat and chatted. Well, after it all, we went down to the office to watch the priesthood session as there were only 2 priesthood holders still there. We went to the office and enjoyed the session. I am so grateful to my wonderful parents who raised me always watching conferences together as a family. Now I love to watch conference and I get so much from it. I know that my life is truly blessed by these words and by what my parents did."

This morning, we went and we did our writing home. That went well, and we got that done - like it was a pin to have to do it. My family doing well, and my new nephew is getting healthy. While we were in the office, the elders in Ulyanovsk called and I had to help them to get their TV set up correctly. Well, we then took off, and went to the church where things went really well. We got the TVs set up and watched the Saturday sessions all together. There was very few people there, so that was sure sad. I wish that all the people would have a testimony of the words of the prophet and apostles. I truly love them. We did have a short break in between the sessions where we had a bite to eat and chatted. Well, after it all, we went down to the office to watch the priesthood session as there were only 2 priesthood holders still there. We went to the office and enjoyed the session. I am so grateful to my wonderful parents who raised me always watching conferences together as a family. Now I love to watch conference and I get so much from it. I know that my life is truly blessed by these words and by what my parents did."

Work and work

"Well we are having a good time and we did a lot today. We have had a really good time. We were really happy today and I was glad to have a good time. Today was definitely a good day. We came here early this morning because of the council that was here. Well we got here and we met up with all the zone leaders and we had a good time that way. I love to see the zone leaders as they are always such great missionaries. Well, I ran around and got things set up and did what I needed to. We then started council and that worked out really good. I love to hear about President. He talked about the Book of Mormon today and that was way awesome. He talked about writings in general and about how we need to write down our own stories and to write in our journals because it is our story. The spirit was strong and I was very impressed as always by him. He is such an awesome man and I love him very much. It is awesome to be so close to him. Well, we then heard from the Zone Leaders as always and then we had lunch. That was definitely the best part of the day. Well, we then heard from the assistants and they talked about writing down things in the area book and how that is so important. I guess that is something that I need to work on a bit more and that we can do better. Well, we then finished up the council and President of course finished things. That was awesome as always and once again the spirit was so strong. Well, then the fun began. I ran around for a bit as I always have to do when there are a lot of people here in Samara and we had to get all the transfers ready and help them get ready for that. We ran through that and got people ready for what they needed to do and then we started our transfer. I went with Elder Barney and we walked around for a bit and that was cool. We talked about everything and we had a good time. We then stopped by to a member who wasn’t home before we started to knock. Well, we had a way awesome experience when we are knocking. We were knocking in this home and we didn’t have a lot of success and that we met one lady who was great. She said that she wanted to come in right away but the bad part was that there was no one else home. We invited her to listen to the sisters and to ask them to come over. She said that she would love to meet with them and to have them over. We took her name and address also and we told her that we would pass it along. She was very happy and we were so happy to be able to find such a wonderful lady. She was very nice and she wanted to know more about us. We were happy to be able to talk to her and to get to know her. Well, we talked with another lady who threatened to call the cops on us so we decided that it was time to give up knocking and we needed to get back here to the office anyways. We stopped by the store and a couple things and then we came here. It is about 8:45 and we are going to be going to the Вокзал here soon and then we are going to go home. We have to take some things there for the Zone Leaders as they are all out on exchanges right now. Well, it was an awesome day to work, and I love to be a missionary. This is such an awesome work. I love the Book of Mormon and the writings that are found there, and I love the opportunity to be able to serve other people. I know that the Lord is blessing me here. I know that this is truly his work. What a blessing this is to be here. I love it a ton and I love to share with others this happiness! The gospel is so AWESOME!"

Conference

"Things went well today and I feel myself a lot better. My side still huts a bit, but it is a lot better than yesterday. At least I can walk and breathe without a lot of pain. I think the main thing is that I have started to drink a lot more. This morning we took off to the office to get some things for the elders and to take to the zone conference. We were there for a bit trying to get things ready and printed off for the conference. Conference today was really good and we talked a lot about faith. President talked about if we will talk with 10 people every day then baptisms will double. We need to have faith. I thought about my faith and I decided that I needed to work on this a lot. I have a great love and I love people so much, but my faith is weak to help them like I need to. I want to hug and help people so much! I love them with all my heart - members, missionaries, and Russian people. These people are so awesome. I need to increase my faith and teach people to show their faith even more. So, that is what I got from conference today, and I need to work on that. We ate McDonald's there and that was good as always. We planned a little with the Assistants what we are going to do tomorrow. We got out of there and we decided to come home as we had to get some things done and I fell asleep for a bit. When I woke up, we went to see вячеслав and we talked about how we can show our faith and about how we can use it as a power in our lives. It went well, and we said our parting words with him - I meant that Elder Bennett said goodbye. We then came home and we were the only ones that were on the трамвай and so we took some pictures and enjoyed that. We have been taking care of things a lot and I have talked way too much on the phone today. Tomorrow is already p-day again so that means that we will be writing home. I love conference, and it always gives me new energy. I love the spirit! It is way awesome."

Leaving

"It is sure an interesting day. Tonight we have an interesting experience that is going. We are letting an Elder Krivov stay with us and he is leaving tomorrow to go to Moscow and all. Well he got set apart tonight and should be sleeping here. Well he decided to take off with his friends - we tried to talk him out of it, but it didn't work. We should have called President but we didn't. Well, now I am sick to the stomach. I guess that is part of life. Its our fault and we should not have let him go. It's too late now though. Well anyhow - enough about that.
Today we had a Конференция Зоны and that went well. We had a lot of good council that we got from President about how to strengthen our branch. Well, had the opportunity to share an experience about how the Atonement has helped in the work. That went well. I also ate way too much pizza and other stuff there. Well, I didn't feel great but oh well - no wonder I am getting fat! Well also we talked about how in the Ensign President Hinckley promises those how will read the entire BofM from Aug 1 until the end of the year will receive great blessings. Well, we are going to institute this in our mission. We are going to start Aug 1 and we are expecting great blessings.
After conference, we went to office and we picked up Брат Блинков. He took us to some members house and we had an interesting discussion with them. The lady told us that she goes to the Провославная Церковь and doesn't really have much desire to come back to church. Well, we talked about the promise above, but she wasn't too interested in it. Well we then went to see Эдуард and Алфия and they are doing well. Блинков talked a lot and it was very long. We sat a lot, and basically Блинков just tried to convince them of the truth. Well, it didn't work out too well, but I have more faith in them now that something will work out and that we will have success. It is awesome to work with people and to help them. I love this work. Well, we then went and got Elder Krivov and came home. I hope that all will be alright."

Crazy

"We had ZLC and we were at the office forever. Well, we went there about 8 and we did everything that we needed to get ready for council. Basically I just got a ton done and I just went crazy. Well, as always we just got done and I just went crazy. Well, as always we just got done with we could. We then started council. That was crazy, and we have a lot to work on now. We talked a ton about how we can help the branches to help themselves. It was pretty crazy. There is a lot we can do. The biggest thing that we talked about is home teaching. We have to work closer with the ward. Well, we also talked about how we can help missionaries who aren't following mission rules. You just have to love them. They are good people, but they have mad mistakes. Well, we talked a lot about being missionaries, and about how we can do better. Well, then we sat down and listened to President for a bit. He is truly an inspired man! He knows how to help these people. Well, after council, I had plenty to do, and I worked on getting things ready for next week as tomorrow I will be super busy. My head just about exploded and I had tons to do. Everyone wanted everything from me. Well, I just did what I could, and all worked out pretty good. We sat in the office for awhile because Elder Hunsaker was working but we made it home, and now I have tons that I have to do before laying down. Off to run around again - at least it is not so crazy here."

Retention

"In my study of the Book of Mormon I am in 4 Nephi and I had some thoughts about the people. They had just seen Christ, but then they fell away. What happened? Well, people always отступить in our days. They don't have the conversion power. They haven't felt the power. Being a missionary, that's our job to help these people become converted ourselves. I know the thought here is not complete, but just think about it. So it was a pretty good day. We went back to conference this morning and we were there all day. We talked a lot about retention. Well, it was hard to pay attention as I was very tired. I didn't sleep well at all last night. I did my best though. Well, after conference the fun started as everyone asked me a million questions about what will be happening and when. We were there for a bit before we went to the office where we just worked on little thing while we waited for missionaries. We came home about 9 and that was our fun day. So, anyhow, we have preparation day tomorrow, and so that will be another day off. It sure has been weird this week. Maybe we can get on a normal schedule. I hope so!"

Star Wars

"It sure doesn't seem like I'm a missionary. We watched звездные войны! Star Wars is right. President told us about a week ago that we could. This morning we had a half mission picnic. Well, we went to the office and met with some of the elders. We then took off to the place to meet for the picnic. At the picnic, we played the best sport ever - football is right. We ate barbecue that they did there and wow that was way good. We played some ultimate frisbee. That was sweet. We then had a spiritual thought after which we took off. I took a shower for the first time in 4 days and that felt very good. After all the fun, we went to the church and we watched the film. It was cool to watch even though I hadn't seen the 2nd part of the series. Tonight we have 2 elders with us - Becker and Kotov. Tomorrow we have conference and so hopefully that will be good. I have been ready 3 Nephi and actually just finished. It was was interesting to think about the 3 Nephites that were saved. Where are they? I always have thought about that. It will be interesting to find out the answer. Well, I could think about it all night, but I am tired. Maybe I'll find a good answer."

And more conference

"The day just flew by again. I don't know where it went to. We were once again in Saratov and we were on conference. It was sad how few people were there. Well, I was a little sick still today, and it was hard to concentrate on the talks. I basically couldn't breathe although it is a lot better now. Well, we came home after talking with people a bit, and then I did catch a few Z's. We did meet with Владимир (beard, prison) and I realized that I wish I knew about other religions - where there from and such things. Well, it was sure interesting. Now, I am getting ready for bed. I need to get a few calls in and stuff before that. Well, the rain put a killer on the day, but I survived. I am excited to work again tomorrow."
