День Победы

9 May 2005
"Morning Study: Faith - faith is the ultimate underlying principle of everything in the church. By faith we believe in the Savior and in his Atonement. By faith members get baptized and begin the road to salvation. No one goes without faith. Faith leads to knowledge but only by faith can we act. Faith is the key to everything we do in the life, for it leads to salvation.
It was an interesting day. It was nice that we could get a lot done. Today was День Победы here in Russia and that meant that we had to sit home all day. We got a lot done, and slept a bit and now we are getting ready for tomorrow. I had an interesting study this morning and wrote a thought that I had above. It will be nice to get back to work tomorrow."

Mother's Day

8 May 2005
"Well, the family is doing well. Today was Mother's day, and I got to talk with the family. They are all doing well and having a good time. It was nice to get to talk with them and find out how all is going. My Mom asked what my most memorable experience has been on my mission so far. I really had no idea. I have had so many little miracles and I love serving. The people are truly wonderful, and they are so nice. I love them to death. The mission is certainly an awesome time. Well, I also got to talk with my real Mom and that was nice to be able to hear from her. She truly is awesome. I am hoping that my brother will call in an hour, and that we can talk for a while. Other then that, today went well. We contacted and had the meeting this morning. It was an alright day, and we are excited for tomorrow. I love serving. This truly is the Lord's work!"

The Hunts

7 May 2005
"Contacting gets kind of old after 2 days straight of it. I guess that's what you get when you have one investigator. We did want to meet with a member and she had a friend there, and so we taught her a first lesson. We actually talked a lot about members today as we got tired of contacting. This lady was really great. I guess members really are the key - in fact they are! We got bored and so we made cinammon roll type things, but they're sure not like home - I guess we'll just have to live. Not much else happened - oh yeah. They elderly couple (Hunts) from Саратов was here to check apartments. It was great to talk with them, although weird to talk so much english. They served in Ethiopia on one mission already. I certainly want to serve on missions when I get older. What a joy!"

Cleaning

6 May 2005
"We can still live in our apartment. That's right! We cleaned the place up for a couple of hours this morning, and it looks awesome here. I understand a lot better now why they want us to have clean apartments. The one bad thing is that I want to sit here now. Well, we contacted the entire day, so that was interesting. My Dad called to make sure that he got the right phone number, and so that was nice to talk with him a few minutes, and we got everything worked out for Mother's Day. Tonight we got some Халва and are enjoying. Life is awesome here, and I love it!"

Great Elder

5 May 2005
"It turned out to be a good day with Elder Johansen. He is an awesome elder and he helped a lot. We met a new guy this morning, and got to know him better. We then met with Ирина and had an awesome meeting with her. The spirit was very strong, and everything went smooth. We made her realize that its true and now she just needs to accept it all. Well, we then went to english, and that went well. We ran to a meeting with Татияна и Саша. It went well also. Elder Johansen is very good guy. We talked a lot about what he did before his mission, and what he will do after he leaves soon. It was awesome, and I hope that I can have the same spirit he does!"

Exchanges

4 May 2005
"It was a great day. Well, it was a nice break from all the walking that we've been doing. We played b-ball this morning like always, and then we came home and got ready to go. Well, we went to Saratov and then we ate before writing home. We wrote and then came back and played a little ping-pong before teaching a lesson about missionary work. We then stopped by to a couple of addresses with little success. Well, tonight I am home with Elder Johansen as we are on exchanges. He is the zone leader, so hopefully he can help me work better. He is a good guy, and so we'll see how all goes!"

Rashes

3 May 2005
"Well, there goes another day. We contacted all day, and so that meant that we walked a ton. We did attempt to meet with some members, but no one was home. We taught a 1st lesson there on the street at one point. We had English tonight and that is a good thing. We had a couple of good new students, so that was nice. Tonight we attempted to meet with some people, but no one was home. We have worked hard, and we both have rashes from walking and sweating so much. We are excited for a break tomorrow."
