Contacting

3 October 2005
"Today turned out to be a really good one even though we just contacted and walked around. It reminded me of all my time that I spent in Engels walking around and trying to find people to teach. Well, all in all it turned out to be a really good time even though we didn't get many addresses. We also this morning played around - well, we really just studied and that went awesome. After our studying, we got going and we headed to the office.

After not too long, we started our собрание округа and that lasted a really long time. We chatted for awhile and that was fun. I love our district and it is always way cool to chat with them and to enjoy their presence. After we chatted and got everything else done that we needed, we got back to office work. I had plenty to do and I had to of course get ready for MEC. One of the other big things we did was to get all the mission papers in order There is a lot of people that want to serve and the papers are piling up. We got most of them figured out. Well 6 came quickly and we have a goal to get out at that time so we did just that. We contacted and we found one girl who was very interested in english and wants to come and talk. We just knocked, and we had a really good time. I love that kind of work. I have plenty to do right now I will get to that. Here is to tomorrow!

Bloody

2 October 2005
"I had a good day. I really enjoyed everything and I felt like we were really helping. We stopped by to pick up Надежда and her 2 sons - Вася and Валя. Well, they are really cool and we went with them down to the church. Well we got there and the guys had a hard time listening and staying awake. I think the main reason was because Надежда forgot everything and so she told they couldn't eat at all. Well, we made it through and then they left. We stayed and somehow suffered through the lesson for priesthood meeting. We also talked with the other missionaries after the meeting about how to help the members. My comp and I talked with Кольцов and he gave us some ideas of how to help people. Well, we then tried to stop by to some people, but no one was home.

We went to the office to eat and finish our fast. We had a good time there and my comp pulled up general conference and we listened to President Hinckley's talk and it was awesome. Well, we then ran and had a meeting with Надежда and her sons. Well, that went well and we had a good time there. Her sons have a lot of energy and she gets upset easy with them, but I really like them a lot. We played for a bit and she had a lot of questions. It felt awesome to teach a family and I love it a ton. Blinkov was there also, and that was cool. We are now home and I am calling people and doing my normal thing. We had an awesome week and I enjoyed it a ton. Next week should be awesome also, and I am excited!

I figured that I had better write what happened with the neighbors. We went out to eat шашлики (shish-ka-bobs) with the neighbors and we were waiting while they were cooking. They were all really drunk and one lady sang us a german song and it was funny. We didn't have a lot of time and so they gave us the ones that were "ready." Well, they were sure bloody and disgusting and we thought we were going to die. We came in and ate some cake and chips. I guess that you shouldn't eat with drunks late at night - but they sure are crazy."

Birthday

1 October 2005
"Well today once again turned out to be a really good day. First off it was Elder Jonsson's b-day and so we got to do what he wanted the whole day - well, almost. We studied for a bit and I wrote a few letters. The sisters then showed up and sang to Elder Jonsson and they had baked him a cake. They sat and we chilled for a bit. We attempted to eat the cake but sister Sargysyan left it in the oven a little too long. It was still good though. We took some pictures and then the APs came and we went to the office to write home. I have a new nephew so that is really cool. He is cute, and it's about time I get one of those nephews. The family is doing good and loves life right now. We finished up writing and then for Elder Jonssons birthday we went to eat at a pizza place that was alright. It was expensive and the Framptons ended up paying for us. I had a really good Ceasar Salad and that was well enjoyed. Elder Jonsson and I then came back to the center area where we live and ate at a place called сладкая жизнь. They had cheesecake there, but it sure wasn't as good as the real stuff. We bought food for the week and then came home. I slept for a bit before we headed to a few addresses. We met a lady and she wants us to come with her sons to church, so we will be getting them tomorrow morning. We then stopped by to see Степан and he is funny but still giving all kinds of excuses. We finally met his granddaughter that he always talks about. She is nice and just looks at him like he is crazy. We invited her to English so hopefully she will come. Today we are fasting for Tom that he will get an answer. He is also fasting and so we shall see how it all works out. I hope that he realizes the truth of the church and what we have taught him. He is such a great guy and I love to teach and work whit him!"

Work and work

29 September 2005
"Well we are having a good time and we did a lot today. We have had a really good time. We were really happy today and I was glad to have a good time. Today was definitely a good day. We came here early this morning because of the council that was here. Well we got here and we met up with all the zone leaders and we had a good time that way. I love to see the zone leaders as they are always such great missionaries. Well, I ran around and got things set up and did what I needed to. We then started council and that worked out really good. I love to hear about President. He talked about the Book of Mormon today and that was way awesome. He talked about writings in general and about how we need to write down our own stories and to write in our journals because it is our story. The spirit was strong and I was very impressed as always by him. He is such an awesome man and I love him very much. It is awesome to be so close to him. Well, we then heard from the Zone Leaders as always and then we had lunch. That was definitely the best part of the day. Well, we then heard from the assistants and they talked about writing down things in the area book and how that is so important. I guess that is something that I need to work on a bit more and that we can do better. Well, we then finished up the council and President of course finished things. That was awesome as always and once again the spirit was so strong. Well, then the fun began. I ran around for a bit as I always have to do when there are a lot of people here in Samara and we had to get all the transfers ready and help them get ready for that. We ran through that and got people ready for what they needed to do and then we started our transfer. I went with Elder Barney and we walked around for a bit and that was cool. We talked about everything and we had a good time. We then stopped by to a member who wasn’t home before we started to knock. Well, we had a way awesome experience when we are knocking. We were knocking in this home and we didn’t have a lot of success and that we met one lady who was great. She said that she wanted to come in right away but the bad part was that there was no one else home. We invited her to listen to the sisters and to ask them to come over. She said that she would love to meet with them and to have them over. We took her name and address also and we told her that we would pass it along. She was very happy and we were so happy to be able to find such a wonderful lady. She was very nice and she wanted to know more about us. We were happy to be able to talk to her and to get to know her. Well, we talked with another lady who threatened to call the cops on us so we decided that it was time to give up knocking and we needed to get back here to the office anyways. We stopped by the store and a couple things and then we came here. It is about 8:45 and we are going to be going to the Вокзал here soon and then we are going to go home. We have to take some things there for the Zone Leaders as they are all out on exchanges right now. Well, it was an awesome day to work, and I love to be a missionary. This is such an awesome work. I love the Book of Mormon and the writings that are found there, and I love the opportunity to be able to serve other people. I know that the Lord is blessing me here. I know that this is truly his work. What a blessing this is to be here. I love it a ton and I love to share with others this happiness! The gospel is so AWESOME!"

Quiet

28 September 2005
"What an awesome feeling to be working and helping people. It is so awesome. I love to be out serving. It is interesting the games that my head plays with me. I tell myself that I need to work even though I don't feel like it a ton. Well, I just have a headache and walk around and think about nothing. Well, it always happens that way, and then I start to feel a lot better. In fact, I usually feel great. Interesting how Satan works.

Today we were able to study again - that is definitely a good way to get things started and I love to learn more about the gospel. Well, we went to the office and just worked for a bit. We had to get ready for ZLC tomorrow and so I was working on getting those things all prepared. Сестры Орловы пришли помогать списком членов церкви. Well, at 2 Tom came and he brought a young man - Dima - with him. That was awesome and the Орловы sisters were there. They are very shy and wouldn't say anything in English. The lesson was good and I think that Tom feels the spirit strongly. The lessons are always awesome and I love them. We got that done and we ate lunch followed by more work. I got the APs computer working again, and so now all is good that way.

We then got out and I went through the ordeal that I explained above. We talked with a lot of people, and we even knocked some doors. We met some real interesting people, and truly enjoyed ourselves. I thought how much I truly miss the field, and how awesome it will be to be back out there. What a joy to be sharing the gospel. I can't imagine life without my time here. I know that this is what I should be doing!

Sarcasm

27 September 2005
"Today was pretty good. We have a lot of good things going on right now. We are helping a ton and really enjoying all that is going on. We once again got in a good study this morning and we had a good time talking with each other about what we have been learning. I love to talk with him and find out how his doing. He is always so quiet, and it is often hard to know how he is, but he studies really well.

We headed to the office this morning a little early but I had to get everything all ready for our meeting that we have on Tuesdays - MEC. Well, I did what I needed, and we got the meeting going. We go a lot of things that we need to work on and President just keeps adding things to do. That is good news because it means that we will be busy. The lessons in all the mission were all down, and so we talked for a long time about the work. Well, after about 3 hours, we finally finished and we got out and we decided to head for a bite to eat. We went to this place called Экспрес and had some sandwiches that were decent. They were much better than last time. We ate there with the assistants and we enjoyed eating with them. Well, we then headed back to the office and I just did several little things that President had asked me to do. Well, we finally took off and went to the FHE that went really good and then we came home. At FHE we talked about obedience and that went well. I talked with everyone afterward, and that was cool. Well, I talked with a zone leader today that told me my sarcasm was unneeded. I got a little mad, but I got over it. I love to have time to teach and have companionship study. I love it so much. It is absolutely awesome. What a wonderful feeling!
