"Well, we didn't do a whole lot today, but we did have a good time. This morning, we tried to stop by and visit someone, but of course no one was home. We had a district meeting, and I gave the spiritual thought. It was hard to do in Russian, but I did the best I could.
We then talked to some people on the street before we had to go to FHE. That was a ton of fun. We had a short lesson, then played games for a while. We ended with some cookies. Like I said, not much occurred. We really just walked a lot. All is well, we have a busy day ahead tomorrow."

Strong Spirit
1 August 2004
"Well, today was an awesome day. It was my first Sunday in the city here, and it was amazing. I also made it through fast day without much problem. Today was so awesome because we had testimony meeting in our sacrament meeting. The meeting is held in the library here, and there is only about 12 member and plenty of investigators. Well, the meeting was extremely humbly for me. I cried half the time because I am so happy to be serving the Lord, and I realized how much I am being blessed here.
When I got up to share my own testimony, I absolutely couldn’t say anything because I was crying so much. I finally said how happy I was to be there, and be strengthened. It was absolutely awesome. The spirit was so amazing.
After the meeting, we went to the city of Норья. There is about 5 members there that we had a testimony meeting with also. The spirit was very strong, and I was able to share many of my feelings about being here. We just finished planning, and now I am going to bed. I am just extremely grateful to serve the Lord, and love the spirit here. I know that I will be blessed ore as I continue to work hard."

"Well, another day passed, and we kept plenty busy. We had a meeting with Тоня this morning, and that went well. She isn’t a member of the church, but she is close. Hopefully, she will be baptized. We then ran to an appointment with Лена. She is also not a member, but we were working to get her interested in baptism.
Our next visit was with Женя. He is a good man who just doesn’t feel ready yet. Hopefully he will soon though. Our final appointment tonight was with Маша and Наташа. We went there again because Наташа wanted a priesthood blessing. When Старейшина Дженсен gave the blessing, the spirit was so awesome. It was amazing to give a blessing in Russian (well to listen and take part).
Other than that, I am doing well. I shared my testimony many times about coming here. The spirit was amazing. I love to share that I know I’m here for the right reason, and that I am here to serve God."

"Well, today was a quick one, but a good one. We met with a deaf lady – Гелина – and I really understood nothing. Старейшина Jensen did all of the talking and stuff, I felt like sleeping.
After that we had another meeting with the two ladies we met yesterday. Ирина and Галиня. It was a pretty good visit, and they said they would read and pray. We will see. I hope they will, it will be nice to find out how that goes.
Tonight, we had English club. It was awesome. We had a small lesson, and mostly just talked with the people. It was nice to understand everyone for a change. Other then that, not much happened today.
I am just grateful to be here in Ижевск. It was a lot of fun today to learn and to teach. Its amazing how much the Lord is blessing me here. I the language is hard, but it is coming. I must continue to rely on the Lord and work hard."

Quick Day

"Well, I am ready to fall over dead. It was a busy day. After we got me registered for my stay here, we met with Алексей. He is an awesome member of the church here. He made us lunch too, so that was cool.
We went to make some contacts, and we met a couple of ladies who were definitely drunk, but they want to meet with us tomorrow.
We ended the night with a meeting with Моша, Июлия, and Наташа. They are awesome members of the church. They love the church, and it was a good meeting. Other then that, it was a good day to work. We got a lot done and met with a lot of people.
Oh yeah, one more thing…I hope it rains every day from here out. It was just nice to finally see some modestly dressed women in this country. I hope it stays like this. It makes the work that much easier. All is well I suppose."

Working

"Well, I am a terrible writer. I totally forgot last night that I needed to write. The night before that, we were on a bus here to Ижевск, and I was unable to write.
Monday was mainly just spent in the office waiting to go to here. We left at about 6 that night and arrived in Ижевск. Also, we ate at McDonalds in Самара.

We visited Лидиа and Ангелина, and talked with them for a bit. They are a couple members of the church here. They are very strong and very nice. Strong as in good members.
We then had a discussion with Ана и Олга. Ана is the daughter of Олга, and they are great people also. They fed us some food, but we weren't too hungry, so they sent it home with us. So we were teaching the 2nd, and it was going well.
We were able to commit them to baptism. Ана is ready for it, but we will have to work with Олга. She is set about already being baptized, so we will see what we can do. We will have to work hard, and let them know our testimonies in order to keep them committed.
That is why I forgot to write. We got home like 15 minutes late, and my mind was on other things. So today is preperation day, and we will be working tonight to teach and other things.

Off to work and write I must go, so I will write again later tonight.

Well, we just stepped in, and Elder Jensen is talking his ear of on the phone. Anyhow, tonight was a good one. We started by talking with people on the street, but no one was really interested.
We then knocked a few doors and not much happened. We gave away a Book of Mormon to a lady who will hopefully give us a call, but I am not sure.
Tonight we met with Олга и Настие. They were just barely baptized and so we were teaching the first discussion for new members. It went all right, but not great. I was tired, and it was hard, but they are both great members.
The lord is blessing me greatly with the language and I am greatful for that. This is definitely where I should be. The Lord loves me and has blessed me to be here."

Silence
--For one of the very rare occasions on my mission, I didn't write. Actually, I didn't write for a couple of days. There may be a total of two more times on my entire mission after this that I didn't write. Anyhow, I'll write again tomorrow when I wrote again.
