Moving

27 June 2005
"It was one of those crazy days in the office today. Lets just say that we were there all day, and I didn't feel good most the day. So this morning I had some energy out of nowhere and made pancakes. They were alright and at least filling. We went to the office early and met some missionaries that got transferred. We then got to work. I did statistics and that was interesting as always. It's always interesting to see who is working well, and who not so well. Well, I also worked on the calling list that President wanted that I have that finished finally. We have a good time chatting and just enjoying ourselves. We then had the worst part of the day - moving. We had to move a lot of stuff from the office to another house. Well, we were all in white shirts and moving big boxes and things. Well, let's just say that I was sweating plenty hard by the end. Luckily it wasn't too hot this afternoon, so that is good. Tonight we just sat in the office and I wrote letters for leaving missionaries. I don't know why I have to, but oh well I guess. I don't mind writing them, but it sure isn't loads of fun. Well, now we are home, and I am dead. Like I said, I didn't feel that great today and so I really want to get to bed. Tomorrow is MEC so that should be cool. I always enjoy that meeting."

Enough Complaints

26 June 2005
"Finally I had the chance to relax and look at where I am right now. This morning we went early to the church for a meeting. Elder Bennett is the new DL so he has to be there earlier. I wrote Bother Stoddard and Sister G. for the first time in a long time. That was cool to let them know how life is going and all. After the meeting, we came home and ate. That was tasty, and I really enjoyed it. It is weird to make stuff here at home as we always do it in the office. Well, after that I slept for a bit. it is really hard to stay awake when you have nothing planned for the day. We haven't been doing well planning, and we need to do better. It's really hard when we have no work though. Well, after that, we went to go contacting, and Elder Jensen called us. Elder Godfrey was sick, and they needed us to go to a meeting. Well, that was boring as I sat home with Elder Godfrey while the others went to the meeting. I basically just read Книгу Мормона the whole time in Russian. I did make a few calls that I needed to also. Well, we came home and that was our day. I think that tomorrow we will have more time to work, and we might have some success. I hope so - I am tired of having nothing going on. Well, I guess I shouldn't complain, but just pray and work. Then something will happen."

P-Day

25 June 2009
"It was an interesting day. Like I wrote last night, we had preparation day so that meant we went to buy some products in a store called Перекресток. It is a bit of a ways away, but it is worth it. They sell American type food and for a good price. We spent a good amount of money there, and we got some food that will be good. After that, we came home and then went to the office and wrote home. The family seems to be doing fairly well. They don't have tons going on but things seem alright. So I wrote home and that went well. We went with the assistants - Jensen and Godfrey - to a place to eat where they serve chicken types of food. It was good and I ate too much. We then went to the рынок that had some матрошкы. It sure wasn't worth it as I was just in Moscow and I bought several there. Elder Jensen wanted to buy some though. Well, we then got pictures developed before coming home to get much needed sleep. We went out and worked and knocked a bit tonight. That was nice. We met a lady that makes Матрошкы and that was cool. We didn't have much success but it was nice to get out and work. President told us that there will be more work in our area as only us and the Assistants will be in here in Avrora. That will be hard to get out of the office, but it will be good for us. We need to do better with that. There is always some reason to be there, but it is usually not that good. I just need to get use to it. Well, who knows. I guess we'll see how all works out."

Retention

24 June 2009
"In my study of the Book of Mormon I am in 4 Nephi and I had some thoughts about the people. They had just seen Christ, but then they fell away. What happened? Well, people always отступить in our days. They don't have the conversion power. They haven't felt the power. Being a missionary, that's our job to help these people become converted ourselves. I know the thought here is not complete, but just think about it. So it was a pretty good day. We went back to conference this morning and we were there all day. We talked a lot about retention. Well, it was hard to pay attention as I was very tired. I didn't sleep well at all last night. I did my best though. Well, after conference the fun started as everyone asked me a million questions about what will be happening and when. We were there for a bit before we went to the office where we just worked on little thing while we waited for missionaries. We came home about 9 and that was our fun day. So, anyhow, we have preparation day tomorrow, and so that will be another day off. It sure has been weird this week. Maybe we can get on a normal schedule. I hope so!"

Star Wars

23 June 2005
"It sure doesn't seem like I'm a missionary. We watched звездные войны! Star Wars is right. President told us about a week ago that we could. This morning we had a half mission picnic. Well, we went to the office and met with some of the elders. We then took off to the place to meet for the picnic. At the picnic, we played the best sport ever - football is right. We ate barbecue that they did there and wow that was way good. We played some ultimate frisbee. That was sweet. We then had a spiritual thought after which we took off. I took a shower for the first time in 4 days and that felt very good. After all the fun, we went to the church and we watched the film. It was cool to watch even though I hadn't seen the 2nd part of the series. Tonight we have 2 elders with us - Becker and Kotov. Tomorrow we have conference and so hopefully that will be good. I have been ready 3 Nephi and actually just finished. It was was interesting to think about the 3 Nephites that were saved. Where are they? I always have thought about that. It will be interesting to find out the answer. Well, I could think about it all night, but I am tired. Maybe I'll find a good answer."

Moscow Insanity

22 June 2009
"The trip is finally about over, and that is a good thing. I am absolutely dead tired after all that has happened. I just want to pass out. This morning we made it in to Moscow, and we headed straight for the рынок. Once we got there we started the insanity. We talked with tons of people, and we bought tons. I bought 10 Matroshki dolls as gifts, and so now I have a ton to send home. I also bought 8 of them for Smith. So basically it was a bad idea to buy all of them because we had to lug the darn things around with us. Well, I then bought some shirts for the family, and that was all.

After the insanity there, we went to Red Square. The bad part is that it was closed. So we complained a lot - I mean come on here - we're in Moscow. Basically it wasn't cool, but we walked around and took a few more pics before heading out to eat. We had the best food! It was like heaven. We found TGI Fridays there and I got ribs and cheesecake and chips and salsa! Wow - I was in heaven. We also watched soccer, and later a track meet. It was pretty cool. It sure didn't feel like missionary life - it wasn't. We slumped out of TGIF's and we went to the metro again. We headed out to the office there in Moscow and picked up a package that we have to bring back with us. We chilled in their office before heading back to the horrid streets of Moscow to get to the airport. The airport was ад! (Guess that word) We finally got through it all and got on the flight. Well, we are almost back to Samara and so that's cool. Back to missionary work...office life...and everything else."

Tallin Tourists

21 June 2009
"It was sure a weird day. It was like we were tourists the whole day - well, we basically were and so that was cool. This morning we got into Tallinn after a long train ride. We met a guy and gave him our passports and things and he took care of that. Well that gave us all day to just walk around and check out the beautiful city of Талин - Wow - it was awesome. The city is so amazing. We walked all over the city and just took pictures. It was cool. The people there spoke English pretty good, and it was interesting to see what a general language english is. If anyone needs to talk they speak in English. Well, we went and ate at a little Estonian place. It was good and I really like the food there. Well, we did talk with some girls selling postcard and they knew 3 languages - most Estonian people do. We went to the ocean and just sat there for a bit. It was a good time to just relax and think about how things are going. After sitting and relaxing we went to the Вокзал to get our passports and new visas. We had a little time left so we ran and got some food for the train ride and walked through the city one last time.

Right now we are sitting on the border and we are getting registered. Well, soon we will be off again to Moscow. It was such a relaxing day. I really enjoyed it. We enjoyed everything here. Well, it will be hard to get back to work and right now I don't really want to. I guess I sill have another day though. What an amazing place this Tallinn, Estonia was. It was one of the most beautiful places I've ever been!"
