Busy

11 July 2005
"Well, it was a long day. Lets just say that we didn't have any time to work. We left this morning to go get that paper that I left there. Well it was still there luckily. Anyhow we went to the office and we started pulling stats together. We had собрание округа and that went well. We then ate and that was as good as always. Well, we had our meeting with president and we were there for about 3 hours. We enjoyed that and now I have tons to do. I have to run to get it all done. Tomorrow everyone from everywhere will be there. It will be very insane. Off to work!"

Way of Life

10 July 2005
"It was another good day until I realized that I forgot a paper for Elder Ehlert in the church. It was pretty important, so tomorrow morning we have to get it. I hate when I forget things. Anyhow today at the meeting we had a good time and met some more Americans. They are working here and they will be here for a couple of weeks. They served in Russia and Ukraine and go to BYU. Interesting how many Americans we have met. There was an interesting experience for me at Priesthood today. There was a young man by the name of Давид and as we talked about the temple he looked at the Salt Lake temple and strived to be there. The desire in his eyes was very clear. I thought about how lucky I was to have been able to be there and to be able to get to visit. I hoped that David will be able to get there someday.

Well, we visited Блинковы today as they wanted the sacrament - they just got back from the temple. It was nice to see him and talk with his family. It is crazy to think about how some people are so active and others not. I have thought about it a lot lately. There are so many inactives and they just don't understand. I don't know how they can fall away so easily. Did they not feel that change of heart that Alma talked about. They don't understand how bad it will really be. I wish that they could understand that this isn't just some game or something that happens and then we are saved. 5 years is all I need. Its a lifetime process. It's a way of life, not a part of life. Its how we live everyday. If every member would just understand, then things would be so much better. That's my job I guess though. Enough rambling, but you got the point.

Tonight on the tram a drunk guy was talking to Elder Bennett when he started to yell and swear at him. He tried to spit on him, but missed. We got up to leave, but weren't at the stop yet. He stood up and kept yelling. He was right in my face and told me some not so nice things. Well, the conductor told him to stop and sit down, but he didn't. Luckily, the stop came fast and we got off. He didn't follow! All was fine, but interesting. Well, now we are home and I have tons to do as it will be a crazy week with all going on. That makes it fun though!"

American Life

9 July 2005
"So the family bought a hot tub! That's right. Talk about sweet. It'll be way sweet to get home. Lol- that was crazy to hear. Well, anyways the family seems to be doing well, and to be relaxing as usual. I scanned some pictures this morning, but I didn't send them yet. I will send them in a week. I developed some more pictures today also, so that means that they will be getting lots of pictures. BJ is going to Switzerland - actually I think he is already there. I hope that is going well for him. I bet it is.
Well we slept for a bit today and did the laundry. We also bought our products for this coming week. I am excited to eat tomorrow - I'm always excited to eat though. We went to McDonalds and ate and that was cool. We walked down to a store and I bought myself some discs - blank cds - so that I can get music from the server. Well, we then went to work and met a lady whose daugher lives in Utah - in Murray! She went to the UofU. Well her mom was way active but not so much anymore so that's too bad. She made several excuses, but wouldn't tell use why she doesn't come. Well, we then met with Sister Stalnova and just chatted for a bit. She is a gread lady. We had to help the Ehlerts at вокзал tonight so we got home a little later than usual, but all was good and we got them sent off. It was another awesome day, and I loved it!!"

Quiet Day

8 July 2005
"What a day. We finally planned and it was really nice. We have a basic idea of what we can do next week, and when we have meetings and those types of things. Its always so much nicer. Well, I also worked on the ward list a bit to divide it up according to our areas. Well, if the sisters complain any then they will hear it. They have way more members than all of us. I guess that they have a lot more time to work though. Well, we then planned and went to the office. In the office I got conference basically figured out. It was a pain as Алексей Золотов didn't plan well enough with the district presidents to be able to have things work out as they should. Elder Ehlert and I got things all worked out, and hopefully conference will go by well.
I worked on the calling list and setting stuff right in MOS. Well, I set up peoples "go home" dates, and I even set up my own. That was really weird, and that will be weird when I do go home. Well, basically that was all that I did - I got things caught up. Tonight we went out with little success but we were able to see our new area. It is huge - the buildings and all. I have got use to our area now. Well, now we are getting ready for p-day. They wanted us to close the church but we told them no because we live way away and President told the missionaries that they shouldn't open it anyways. Well, they hate us now but that's part of life. Anyhow, I best be off to getting ready."

Arguing

7 July 2005
"I decided that it is way cool when there is people in the office - other missionaries I mean. It gives us a chance to get out and to work and meet more people then we would normally be able to. not only that, but we can see how the elders are doing. it is cool to be out on the street. So this morning we were here with Pantone and Wellman, and it went cool. Elder Pantone is way funny, and he's a lot of fun to be with. We went to the office, and I began the craziness. It was sure insane. I just typed and worked on getting everyone into a database that is set up to keep track of where people are serving. Well, I also have been calling all the President's in the districts to find out about money for youth conference. Well, it is kind of crappy but I guess someone has got to do it.
SO we ate a way good lunch today that the Assistants made. It was pizza, but there was bacon on it, and they had some ranch dressing that they made. Wow it was way good. So tonight we got to work. I was with Elder Pantone and we went to a member. She invited her friend over and we thought we would teach her a lesson, but it turned out that she just wanted to argue with us. It didn't go to well, but it was funny. I was laughing when she talked to us because she basically told us we were idiots. Well tonight I have more work to do for the youth conferences so I better get calling more people again!"

Back to work

6 July 2005
"We actually got out and worked tonight. It was nice. The only reason was because Wellman and Pantone from Saratov were here a day longer than we planned on. Well, me and elder Wellman went and we contacted for a bit tonight and it actually went fairly well. People were way nice and we had a good time talking. We actually got another address tonight so that was cool. It was awesome to be able to contact again - it felt like old times. We stopped by to Баба Нина earlier in the day and that was cool. She is one of the coolest grandma's that I know. So after that we came home and finished my cake so now I don't have any more. I guess that's part of life.
This morning we did have a good time because we were able to study. It was nice to have the full time to get ready for everything. Well, in the office I started on all the stuff that President gave to me. Wow, it is insane. I have so much that I have to do. On top of all that, now I have to get stuff ready for transfers. It sure is crazy. Today also, I saw Юлия и Маша from Ижевск! Wow! It was way awesome to be to see them. I miss Izhevsk and it was way awesome to see them. So the bad news is that Tom gave us a фиг. He wasn't able to come for some reason so that kind of big time sucked. Hopefully we can meet with him sometime again, but who knows. Maybe on friday. So other than that, not much happened. It was a cool day, and it was nice to work. I love to work."

Long Meeting

5 July 2005
"We had our MEC today and it was one of the longest ones yet. We got everything form President, and he just kept adding more and more to do. This morning we were in the office at 8 as we had to meet some missionaries there that were leaving to get new immigration cards. Well, I got several things done that I needed to. The meeting started at 10 and we went forever. President is just not happy with the work in Saratov. He wishes that it would go better there. He asked us to pray about the work and think of ways to get the work moving there. We thought up some good ideas, and President told the assistants that they basically need to change all the transfers so that work was going better there. We talked about how we need to get out of the office earlier to do more work, and also about how we need to make sure we enforce the office rules more. Too many people are sitting in the office doing nothing and wasting a lot of time. President wants us to work that out more. So after 4 hours of talking, we decided that we would eat. We had tacos before we left to the church. We were suppose to have собрание миссионеров but we were too slow. Well I took a nap on the chairs. Well we had to teach English again for the second week in a row and this time we had 2 students! Wow. Well, we then got the water out of the baptismal font before coming home. Tonight we are trying to get hold of people to get things done that president wants. It is crazy - office life!"
